Breakfast in the Studio (Cara, Anna & Paul), Acrylic, charcoal, and chalk on canvas, 32”x31”, 2012.
Corpus (Self Portait), Chalk and Charcoal on Black Paper, 2012.
Every night I’ve been working on self-portraits in mechanical pencil from life. Here’s the one from a few days ago.
I stumbled across these pictures I took while I was drawing a self portrait as a dancer. This was when I was running 30 miles a week and weighed 25 pounds less than I do now. It’s making me sick to my stomach.
I had abs and I didn’t even realize it.
2 AM self-portrait
I started playing around with oil paints last night. They make painting SO EASY. I never realized how much pressure I always feel to hurry working with acrylics.
Work in progress.
Doppelgänger at the Moment of Death
I started to take some pictures of my work, but wasn’t happy with any of the lighting in my house.
I’m gonna wait for a less windy day and just shoot them outside, but here’s a picture of one of my favorite drawings from the semester.
I finally understand the purpose of a self portrait. Artistic moments of clarity are exciting.
